Staying safe on EvryEvry

Most deals go fine. These are the habits that keep the rest from costing you anything.

Never pay in advance

This is the single most common scam. No genuine seller needs a deposit, a "delivery fee", a "customs charge" or a transfer before you have seen the item. Pay when you collect.

Never share a code sent to your phone

A verification code is how someone takes over your account. No buyer, seller or member of EvryEvry staff will ever need one, whatever reason they give.

Meet in a public place

  • Choose somewhere busy and well lit, in daylight where you can.
  • Tell someone where you are going and when you expect to be back.
  • Take someone with you for anything large or expensive.
  • For a vehicle, meet at a garage and have it inspected before you pay.

Inspect before you pay

Check the item is what the advert described. Test anything electrical. For property, view it in person and confirm who actually owns it before any money moves.

Be wary of a price that is too good

A price far below the market is bait, not a bargain. The same is true of a seller who is in a hurry, cannot meet, or wants to move the conversation somewhere else immediately.

Keep the conversation here

If a deal goes wrong, we can only help with what happened on EvryEvry. Someone who insists on moving to another app before you have agreed anything is a warning sign.

Report anything suspicious

Every advert has a "Complain about this advert" link. It goes to our moderation team and you do not need an account to use it. For anything urgent, contact your local authorities first, then email support@evryevry.com.
